North Carolina, Waynesville - Sunday, July 14, 2013 - Dinner with Friends

We drove from Concord to Pride RV Resort near Maggie Valley, NC this afternoon.  Somewhere the sun is shining, but not here.

 

 We arrived about 4:00 and got hooked up to services and waited for our friends Barbara and Ann to come pick us up, since it was raining.  While waiting we got a text from daughter Robyn that mentioned there are areas in the west experiencing wildfires that might like for us to visit and bring the rain.

This is our view from the front window, I’m hoping that creek doesn’t rise much more.  If it stays like it is, it’s really pretty.

 

Barbara and Ann have a mountain cabin right on the Pigeon River.  Oh my, what a delightful place.  While we were sitting on the deck porch swing overlooking the river sipping a glass of wine waiting on dinner, we decided that once we stop being gypsies this is exactly the type of place we would like to retire-so perfect.

That wasn’t all that was perfect about the evening – the shrimp and bread and a salad with greens, fresh berries and peaches was out of this world.  We are meeting them again in the morning, I’m going to have to ask for the recipe for the shrimp and bread, hope it isn’t a family secret.

After dinner we sat and talked and laughed harder than I’ve laughed in a long time.  All in all a very enjoyable evening.
