Tonight was
date night. We got dressed up – nothing
fancy just much better than our normal uniform of the day which is shorts,
t-shirts and tennis shoes. There are 13
food venues at the Winstar Casino. Greg
chose Toby Keith’s Bar and Grill. It
turned out to be a very good choice. He
had ribs, I had shrimp – both were delicious.
We started out with a “tumbleweed” appetizer. It was a huge stack of very thinly sliced
fried onions and jalapeño peppers. We
picked out the jalapenos and enjoyed the onions.
I didn’t get
any good pictures of the outside of the casino.
It was rainy on Saturday night. I
took the pictures that follow on Sunday morning before we left. Not only was it rainy Saturday, it was downright
cold.
We were very
pleased with the accommodations at the Winstar RV resort. I’m guessing, but I think they had 200 or so
sights. The roads were paved and extra
wide. 152 of the sites have full hook
ups with charcoal grills and picnic tables.
The primitive camping sites had fire rings and picnic tables.
We checked
in at the registration building.
And found
our site #166
This Winstar
complex is huge. According to their
advertising, it is the second largest casino in the world with over 7,000
electronic games, 75 table games and a 46 table poker room. But, we still had trouble finding two empty
slot machines so we could sit together to play.
This is what
we found as we walked around the RV complex.
Indoor/Outdoor
Pavilion which would make a nice site for a rally. We looked in the door of the indoor facility
and it looked like it would seat 40 or so.
The
Indoor/Outdoor Pavilion was right next to a beautiful pool.
There are
two very nice laundry facilities on site.
Even though we have a washer and dryer in the coach, they are too small
to do some things like bedspreads, so I took advantage of this facility since
it was right across the street.
This is the view behind our site. A walking trail is lighted for a nighttime stroll if you are so inclined. They also have special areas for pets to walk.
Right across the road is a 27-hole golf course.
They attract
some big names in entertainment also. We
might watch the schedule and plan some time here again.
Looks like a nice place. We originally, before the government shutdown, intended to drive the Natchez Trace and stay in Corps of Engineer campgrounds on our way back to south TX. Guess we won't be doing that. This place looks like a good destination on an alternate route.
