We plan to
try to leave early in the morning. It
was dry yesterday and today so we are hoping that the ground is firm enough for
us to get out of our site. Keep your
fingers crossed for us tomorrow.
If this week
was our vacation I would have been really upset. But, since this is our life, it was just a
little blip. I know the weather had a
lot to do with it, but this campground is definitely not going to be on the
list of those we recommend.
From here we
will be headed to Pohick Bay Regional Park in Lorton, VA which will be just
about 12 miles from daughter Robyn and her family. Last year when we stayed in the area the
place we stayed was across the city from them.
City being Washington D.C., it was an hour drive in heavy traffic to get
back and forth. We are hoping this new
place will be a better choice.
After we
leave Washington, D.C. we are going to have to head back to Indiana – Elkhart
to be exact. For those of you who live
in an RV, you know that means we need a repair L.
When we were in Indiana in July, Greg made a repair to the roof,
unfortunately that repair didn’t hold once we started moving and what seems to
be the problem is something he can’t fix.
It looks like the roof panel curves over the side of the coach and goes
down behind a panel that covers the side.
Those panels have separated in an area at the rear on the passenger
side.
With all the
rain we had this week, it became evident that we had a problem. On Tuesday there was a break in the rain so
we went out to make temporary repairs.
We pulled a very heavy waterlogged wooden picnic table to the side of
the coach and put our step ladder on top of it in order to reach the roof. My “safety background” alert was going off,
but all went well. There was no way we
could have stood a ladder on the ground, it would have sunk in. We had some repair tape that Greg used to
cover the area and it didn’t seem to leak during the afternoon storms that day.
