We got on
the road early and stopped at the Rocky Top, TN Cracker Barrel for
breakfast. Even though we are in “grits
country” Greg still didn’t eat them. I
tried their new multi grain pancakes with granola. The pancakes were good but they were so dry
they kind of crumbled.
It was foggy
at the bottom of Jellico Mountain, but by the time we reached the top we were
out of the fog.
Views without billboards are relaxing to me.
The crepe myrtles were starting to bloom at the rest area at the Georgia line. We picked up some information about the Savanah area and a few areas of interest for the next time through. Also got info on where to get some Georgia peaches – can’t wait for those.
Welcome to Atlanta! This isn’t relaxing at all and it got worse, as we were going out of town traffic came to a complete standstill then for miles we just crept along. Once again I had to admire Greg’s patience.
When we were at the rest area we decided to stop for the night at a KOA in Forsyth just south of Atlanta. We don’t usually stop at KOAs because they tend to be older campgrounds where it is hard to maneuver the larger RVs like ours. Several more large RVs pulled in this evening after us. Greg says he thinks people stop here to rest either before going through Atlanta or after they have been through. It is just off of I-75 at exit 186 and easy to find. I was impressed when one of the guys who works here showed up at our door with 3 large warm complimentary chocolate chip cookies.
