First, we want to say congratulations to granddaughter Mackenzie, she got a blue ribbon for her child development project at the Indiana State Fair.
Officially
we are in South Carolina, but the campground is just 10 minutes from
Savannah. I realized after seeing the
highway signs today that I have been misspelling Savannah – it has 2 n’s. We haven’t walked around this campground yet
but I don’t think it is one of the nicer ones we have stayed at – it looked
pretty good on the website J. We are next
to the office in a decent level pull though site. The water pressure is good and the water is
clear. Electric is good, Wi-Fi is strong
and Greg was able to lock on to all of his satellites for TV. So, it actually has everything we need. The plan is to spend most of our time in
Savannah, but we are going to check out another campground on Tybee Island for
next week.
Our trip
this morning involved a lot of Georgia pines.
This was about all we saw. After we got off of I-16 the GPS took us on kind of a roundabout trip to the campground, we had to cross this drawbridge. It doesn’t look big enough to me.
Our GPS is made for RV travelers and the route worked out just fine except we missed a turn, so we are headed over a very high bridge over the Savannah River.
Greg managed to make a u-turn and get us back to where we belonged.
On the way
over we stopped at a peach market. There
were huge billboards every once in a while advertising this market. When we got there it was a few tables set up
under shade canopies at a Shell station – not what we were looking for. We bought a small basket of peaches and now I
wish we had bought a large basket, they are delicious. We had peaches and cottage cheese for lunch,
sliced peaches with our breaded tenderloins for dinner and then diced peaches
and pound cake for dessert.
