Although
Highway 29 North out of Kansas City may look nice it gives a very rough
ride. It is made of cement rather than
asphalt and unless they groove the cement you can feel every time you go over
where the cement panels connect so you get a very annoying
“thunk—thunk—thunk—thunk”.
Baling the
grass along the highway keeps things looking neat. We’ve seen lots of hay and corn since we
arrived in the “Husker” state.
We had nice
weather as we took Highway 80 into Grand Prairie.
We normally
don’t stay at KOA but the Grand Island KOA seemed to be our best choice along
this route. It was a well maintained
park but the sites were a bit close.
That didn’t present a problem during our overnight stay because the heat
index was over 100 – we were staying inside.
