We left the
oilfields of Midland early this morning and headed into fields of red dirt,
wheat fields and fields disked ready for cotton planting. The oil derricks were replaced by windmills. Unfortunately, bare fields or even wheat
fields are hard to capture in a picture that is worthwhile while moving down
the road. Even though Greg cleaned the bugs
off the windshield at our fuel stop this morning, they soon caught up with us
again. Speaking of fuel stops, it’s a lot
more pleasant to be paying $2.50 to $2.70 a gallon than the over $4.00 a gallon
we paid last year.
We will be
staying one night at Oak Creek RV Park in Weatherford, TX. This is a nice place. We are in site 47, the only problem with it
is we can’t get any TV reception because of the trees.
The resort
office and recreation room building, looking rather castle-like. This is a Good Sam park.
The recreation
room entrance is pretty impressive.
The outside
patio area is very nice. I could be comfortable here with a fire in the pit and a bottle of wine.
The pool is
a little different than most with a waterfall on the far side.
There is a
stream that runs through the middle of the park. Their brochure mentions it is ok to fish.
