Kansas, Pratt - Monday, October 13, 2014 - Last Day with the Grandkids

We are getting ready to leave Kansas tomorrow as soon as our mail arrives.  We’ve enjoyed our time here so much.  David and the pup who has adopted him have found the coach to be quite comfortable.  Sorry, David but the family wants to see how you are doing.

Grandson Tyler came out yesterday and made our “old before their time” headlights look so much better.  My pictures don’t do justice to the improvement that was made.

The weather here the last two days has been very stormy with lots of wind and rain.  We were a little concerned that the soggy sandy roads after all of this rain might present a problem for us to get out to the paved highway.  Right now we are about a quarter of a mile off of the paved road and these sand roads get really mushy when there is an extended rain like we have had.  Many of them are impassible without a four wheel drive and a lot of those four wheel drives are absolutely covered in mud right now.  I was out in David’s pickup truck late this afternoon and it looks like the fierce winds have started to dry out the roads so we will probably make it out just fine.

I took the grandkids, Wyatt and Cheyanne, for supper at Subway before dropping Wyatt off for his karate lesson.  We arrived a little early so I pleaded to get some good pictures.  Sometime it didn’t work J

They did settle down and give me a few good shots to remember them by until next year when we get back through here again.

Our next destination is Las Vegas for the NHRA drag racing taking place there the end of October.  We’ll be going south from here into Texas, through New Mexico on our way to Nevada.  I know, not the most direct route, but we can do that.
