Kansas, Pratt - Saturday, September 07, 2013 - Veteran's Memorial Park

If you find yourself about an hour west of Wichita on Highway 54 looking for a place to spend the night in your RV, you need to check out this park.  It overlooks the Pratt City Lake.  This would be the view from our front window if we could see out our front window.

Right now it is so covered with bugs, it’s a mess.  Greg had it all nice and clean when we left South Dakota.  Our windshield was a real “bug sweeper” on the trip here.  We hit a lot of bumblebees which would splat and then just slide down the windshield leaving a mess the whole way.  Then we ran into some kind of big hard shelled beetle that made it sound like someone was shooting at us when it hit the windshield.  Real glad we weren’t on the bike, bet those rascals would hurt if they hit you in the head.

The sites at this park are large pull through or back in.  I think most of them have 50 amp service and water for $15 a night.  None of the sites have sewer hookups but there is a dump site at the park.  All of the sites have concrete patios, fire rings and nice picnic tables.  There are restrooms but no showers.  The sites themselves are hard packed stone, ours is nice and level.

Son David and grandson Wyatt joined us for grilled pork chops for supper this evening.  So good to spend some time with them again.  We are going with David tomorrow to see if there is anything we can do to help him with swathing, baling or picking up bales.  Been a long while since I’ve run any type of farm machinery and none of it was as big as what he has – ought to be interesting.
