We left Waco
on Saturday, May 4. We had an overnight
stop at Diamond Jack’s Casino RV Park in Shreveport, LA. Not a bad RV stop but the casino is getting
pretty old. From Shreveport we headed to
our second casino stop at Ameristar Casino in Vicksburg, MS. We’ve stayed in their RV Park before. We are here for the sole purpose of eating
the fried green tomatoes from Rusty’s Riverfront Grill.
On Tuesday,
May 7 we headed for our final casino stop in Bay St. Louis, MS. I love the landscaping headed in to this
place.
There we
are. I find the Spanish moss hanging
from the trees really amazing.
On
Wednesday, May 8 we drove down out to the beach road in Bay St. Louis. We’ve been here before so we didn’t do much
more than walk on the beach.
Of course we
found out that the first beach we picked was a private one. That must explain the fence we had to step
over to get here. We got out before the
shore patrol came by.
We ate at
the Blind Tiger several years ago. At
that time the area had been devastated by a hurricane and all of these other
buildings weren't around.
We drove on
out to Garfield Laudner Memorial Pier.
This is a great area for families to spend a day on the beach – lots of
white sand.
If you are
early you can snag one of these nice covered areas.
Bring your
own tables and chairs
Further out
on the pier are areas for fishermen.
In the
background you can see the visitor’s center.
There are restrooms and an elevator to the second floor balcony. This building is new since we were here last.
The view
from the balcony was great but a little windy.
Lots of
beautiful homes along this road restored or built new after the last hurricane.
We checked
out the Silver Slipper Casino in Waveland because it has RV parking with a water view and
full hook ups. Five tour busses were
there when we stopped by and the casino was really crowded.
