We will be
in site 208 at Timberland Acres RV Park in Trenton, Maine for the next
week. Yes, we have neighbors here, but
the sites are long and pretty level. We
don’t plan on spending much time at the park anyway, we are less than 15
minutes from Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor and the shoreline of Maine. It works out well for what we have planned –
lots of sightseeing.
Our trip
today was about 130 miles, but it took us almost 3 ½ hours to accomplish
that. We got slowed down by a lot of
factors.
Oversize
loads coming the wrong way through our turn lane.
Construction – lots of it. Met up with at least six of these guys.
Small towns with narrow streets and 25 mph. speed limits
Two lane roads with curve after curve. Our GPS puts out “curve warnings ahead”, I thought it was going to wear itself out today.
About halfway here we did find a pullover next to a river for a short break to stretch our legs.
When we finally made it over to I-95 which runs north and south through Maine the weather looked like it might slow us down even further. All we got out of this was a few sprinkles.
The Maine roads we have been on have no billboard advertisements. Nice when you are looking at the scenery, could be bad though if you needed to get off the road for services, you wouldn’t know until you got there what was available. However, they do advertise this.
The pool here at the park looks nice but the gate was still padlocked, guess they think it is still too cold to be swimming. It’s not supposed to be real warm while we are here and might rain a couple of days. But, we intend to get out and enjoy Maine anyway.
These carved
statues are outside of the recreation hall.
