After
breakfast this morning we decided to walk around the lake. For us it’s a pretty big lake to be walking
around but we made it and actually felt pretty good afterwards.
We kept disturbing
this bird, not sure what it is, grey in color with long legs.
The lake has
about 20 piers like this that go out into the water for fishing. Some of them have picnic tables and shelters
which would be nice for family reunions.
One side of
the lake road has trees that grow over it in a canopy. I still have to do some research on what kind
of trees they are. My first guess is
aspen, but I don’t know if aspens grow in Kansas. The leaves are heart shaped and turn
yellow. At any rate, the wind rustling
through them this morning sounded almost like a song.
We drove
into Great Bend to an RV dealership to get some boiler anti-freeze. Greg is going to do some preventative
maintenance on the Aqua Hot unit that provides hot water and will have to drain
the anti-freeze that is in it.
The wind
here picked up this afternoon. Blowing
most of the time at around 17 mph with gusts 30 mph or so. The temperatures are still running in the
upper 90’s. I really enjoyed watching a
sailboat out on the lake as I fixed supper this evening. I was glad he was still out there after we
finished eating. I walked over and took
a few pictures.
