The Johnson
Canyon road is a paved road with lots of great scenery.
See the area
that looks like paint has been poured down the side of the mountain? There are several areas like that. Obviously, it isn’t paint. I don’t know if it is the formation of the
rock itself or coloring coming from one of the other areas of rock that seeps
out during rain.
The White
Mountains are visible throughout this area.
Greg just
couldn’t resist going off road. I have
to laugh when he says, “hold on this could get rough”. He wasn’t kidding, the drop off in this wash
was much steeper than it looks in the picture!
Ok, we know
this isn’t a cloud.
Can you see
the rock that looks like a tepee just right of the center of the picture? Greg thinks someone made this.
There are a
lot of mountainsides out here that look like strong winds have brushed their
surfaces into some intricate designs.
We decided
to take an unimproved road to see if we could find the source of the
smoke. This road was like a washboard
but it was nice and wide and not nearly like that narrow trail he took
earlier. We weren’t able to see the
source of the smoke, it ended up being on the other side of a mountain range.
Some scenery
on the way back home.
One of the
brochures we looked at called this a “pioneer billboard”. The writing is very faint, hard to see.
