We left
Tillamook and the Oregon Coast early this morning for an overnight stop in
Sisters Oregon (named after the Three Sisters Mountains that are nearby.
The first
fifty or so miles of our trip looked something like this, lots of curves. It
kind of reminded me of driving through a rain forest. The trees were moss covered, not Spanish moss
like we saw on the Gulf Coast, but fuzzy green moss. Ferns, flowers and blackberry bushes covered
all the areas the trees didn’t.
Once we
reached the RV park, we hooked up the basics and headed into town for lunch at
Los Agaves Mexican Grill.
We both had
the three enchilada plate, I had shredded beef that was very tender. It was a great choice.
After lunch
a little walk through town was in order.
I don’t know what the Sisters Folk Festival is, but the town was
definitely dressed up for it.
The Sisters
Saloon, which was originally the Hotel Sisters, was built in 1912 by a local
businessman and Spanish American War veteran, John Dennis.
All of the
buildings in town (or at least on the main street) seem to have a similar
personality. It’s a very pretty, well-kept
town.
Back at the
campground, this is our site. I don’t
think we will be getting satellite TV this evening because of all the trees.
This is a
nice park – wide roads, pretty landscaping.
But, the lavender that they have planted can be pretty overpowering when
you are outside for very long.
We have been
without internet access for a week so I am going to try to get caught up on my
blog posts of our adventures on the Oregon coast this evening.
