We are at
Sturbridge RV Resort overnight. This is
one of the Thousand Oaks parks and we could use our Passport America discount
so the rate was $25 for full hook ups for the night. A decent park, not one I would want to stay
at for an extended period of time, but it works well for overnight. A huge pine tree keeps us from having TV
reception this evening and our hot spot isn’t working very well either so I
probably won’t get this post published tonight.
Goodyear
from Wilkes Barre, PA got to us last night around 6:30 with our two new tag
axle tires. Greg got so fed up with the
Good Sam tire road service people this time that he told them to forget it he
would make arrangements for tires himself.
The ordeals he had with the road service are just too lengthy to go
into. Good Sam outsources at least the
tire service part of their road service.
Let’s just say the five ladies Greg talked to in Missouri weren’t much
help to us in Pennsylvania.
The owners
of Tri State RV Park are just the nicest people and the walks along the
Delaware River were great, but we sure were glad to be able to move on – we
were up and out of there by 7:30 this morning.
We only had
to go across the river and we were in New York and experiencing some really
rough roads.
New York
does have a couple of idea I really like.
One is “text stops”, this one happens to be a full-fledged rest area but
every few miles there is at least a place for people to pull over and text if
they have to – at least on I-84 where we were at.
Lots of nice
scenery. The weather was overcast and
the roads were bumpy so a lot of the pictures I took didn’t turn out too good
as we were moving.
Some of the
scenery wasn’t so nice.
The Newburgh-Beacon
Bridge was getting some repair work and backing up traffic. We did find out that our EZ-Pass transponder
works, this is the first opportunity we have had to try it.
Another
thing New York does that makes sense to me is to mark the exits N or S for
north or south and E or W for east and west, rather than A and B. What doesn’t make sense is that exit 16 is
probably mile marker 50 something.
Just about
missed Connecticut’s welcome sign.
Still nice
scenery, I noticed that there were very few billboards and those were near
exits.
All of the
noise barriers we saw on our trip through Connecticut were made of wood – all
of them looked just alike.
I sure was
happy to see these guys. We ordered the
last four new tires we need from them well over a week ago. We kept having to put off our arrival time
here because we were having trouble getting the tires we needed in
Pennsylvania. One of the guys told us
that someone called on Monday begging for one of the tires, thank goodness he
had faith we were going to make it and told them “no”.
Entering
Massachusetts - since we are staying the night here we’ll be able to put
another state on our map of “states where we have stayed”.
The
campground here has a pretty lake.
And, it has
something no other campground has had – a kissing bridge J.
Looks like a
nice playground for the kids.
We didn’t
take advantage of the indoor pool but it looked good.
The hot tub
was really moving. I’m not sure I could
sit in it without being swept off the seat.
Not much in
the way of flowers and landscaping right now, but this park is just getting
their season going. This bush, however,
was beautiful.

Just wanted
to show off my anniversary present – our sixth is coming up in a couple of days. I’ve never received an anniversary present
quite so expensive. I’m not sure
anniversary number 6 is the “tire” anniversary for everyone, but it is for us
this year. He hinted this evening that
he might even throw in a couple of coach batteries – I’m just overwhelmed J.
