Virginia, Lorton - Sunday, August 17, 2014 - Pohick Bay Regional Park

The drive into Lorton got a little slow in spots but all in all not too bad considering how close we are to Washington, D.C.

We didn’t spend any time looking around at the park, so more on that tomorrow.  We do know that it has a water park somewhere and we could hear kids having a good time this afternoon.  We also know that the next time we come we don’t want site 67 which is where we are now.  The site itself is nice, but it was a hassle to get this big coach in here and avoid trees and site markers.

We got everything set up and unloaded the bike so we could go visit a while with daughter Robyn and her family.  The ride to their house was about half an hour and the traffic wasn’t too bad at all, much better than last year.
We enjoyed grilled hamburgers and some of the best cantaloupe I have ever eaten.  Granddaughter Maddie entertained everyone, she’s a chatterbox.  She was wearing a little pink hat with a whale on the front of it.  Jason’s mom asked her what was on her hat and she said “shampoo” (Shamu).

She was pretty thrilled to get to set on Pawpa Greg’s motorcycle.
